Founded in 1967 by Colin Moore, Crowborough Choral Society has sung in six countries and in seven languages, and over the years has performed over 300 works composed between 1565 and 2003.
The society performs two classical concerts a year, and a more light-hearted summer concert. There are also Christmas carols at local churches, and the society takes part in the annual Wakehurst Place carol concert.
In addition to singing, the society organises a range of social events for members and their partners, including quiz evenings, barn dances and race nights. In 2007 a party of over 50 people spent a week in Poland, combining performances at three venues with sight-seeing and other activities. A similar number visited Spain in the spring of 2009, and most recently May 2012 members of the society and partners visited Hungary and performed two concerts. The first was in St Michael's Church, Budapest, and was shared with the Zrínyi Miklós Egyetemi Énekkar choir.
